This is an original American Art Deco Machine Age table lamp that was designed and produced in the 1930's by the Markel Company of Buffalo, New York.
The three “speed” rings on the shaft are echoed in the typical Markel finial.
The lamp is all original and in very good condition considering its age with some minor coloration flaws which are more "character" marks than anything. It can be replated if one wishes but with it exhibiting such great original patina why would one want to do so? This is how the lamp was originally, not a solid polished nickel or chrome but brass and copper with polished chrome accents.
It measures 18” high and 15” in diameter and is the largest and most impressive of the Markel table lamps. A great original example of a highly desirable and hard to find vintage American Art Deco lamp!
