ABOUT JUDITH MILLER: General Editor Judith Miller began collecting in the 1960s while a student at Edinburgh University in Scotland. She has since extended and reinforced her knowledge of antiques through international research, becoming one of the world's leading experts in the field. In 1979 she co-founded the international best-seller Miller's Antiques Price Guide and has since written more than 100 books which are held in high regard by collectors and dealers. Judith Miller appears regularly on TV and radio. She is an expert on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow and co-hosts the popular BBC series The House Detectives, ITV's Antiques Trail, and Discovery's It's Your Bid. She has appeared on The Martha Stewart Show and CNN. She is a regular lecturer and contributor to numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Financial Times, BBC Homes & Antiques and House & Garden. She has lectured extensively, including at the V&A in London and the Smithsonian in Washington.
ABOUT IZA EMMETT Ric Emmett, author of American Art Deco Furniture, began his adventure with Art Deco in 1979 when he purchased an unmarked door stop of a geometric duck. It was his first Art Deco purchase which led to a lifelong search for Art Deco in all its forms. He opened his first gallery devoted entirely to Art Deco in Coral Gables in 1987 and the rest is, as they say, history. He embarked on writing about American Art Deco Furniture and Lighting five years ago. American Art Deco Furniture is a Limited Edition book that covers the development of an American “style” of furniture that breaks from European tradition. It took 5 years to research and write and draws on 38 years of experience in buying, selling and collecting by one of the most knowledgeable and respected dealers in Art Deco. Ric Emmett passed on April 7, 2015. Since then, his wife and partner and publishereditor of the book, Iza Emmett, is working on his second book, American Art Deco Lighting. Meanwhile, Iza has presented the book and lectured on American Art Deco Furniture in New York and Miami and was a presenter at the Miami International Book Fair in 2015.
