Jerry Roth (1918 – 2008) had his first paying job as an artist in the new York Federal Arts program of the WPA at age 16. He remained as artist until his death 74 years later. Born Jerome Rothstein, at four his parents give him the middle name “Henry” and later he became Jerry Roth. His watercolor of a boxer is from the 1930’s and is signed on the lower left in pencil “Rothstein” The piece is 17 ½” tall and 11 ¾” wide. This and the other pictures by Jerry are from his widow Nettie.
