Description
(Portrait) by Ossip Siniaver.  Charcoal on paper, excellent condition--archivally matted and framed. (13 3/8in H x 9 1/2 W image, 27 1/2 H x 17 3/4in framed) Ossip Siniaver was born in Odessa, Russia, b.1899, moved to Belgium in 1923 and died in 1975.  
 
Siniaver graduated from the Odessa Art School. Around 1917 came to Belgium to continue art education. While studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Ghent received engineering education, which influenced his work, the essence of which the artist saw in the "synthesis of art and science." Composition, color palette and light ratio in the film - all built on his "scientific method of" artist.
Entered the Belgian art history as a creator of special industrial landscape, the interpretation of which differed grotesquely humorous solution. Was a member of the Belgian Society for comic artists "Laughing mine." Grotesque in the works of the early period later gave way to the gentle humor and lyricism, and historically accurate depiction place over an abstract landscape.
 
Illustrated a number of books for young people: P. Torbeyns «La justice du Grand Nord» (1953); E. Kinds «La locomotive qui partit toute seule» (1953).
Participant of many Belgian exhibitions. In 1968 he held a solo exhibition in Chisinau, the Museum of Fine Arts of Moldova.
 
For the contribution to the Belgian art has repeatedly been awarded prizes and medals of the European Council on the Arts and Aesthetics and the Belgian Association of Professional Artists.
Was in the "Union of Soviet patriots" Belgium and the end of life had Soviet citizenship.
