When Marjorie Goldman of Piano Nobile told me she was designing "Florida Everglades Wallpaper" I tried to imagine what she was thinking. Little did I know how excited I would be when I saw the first samples: Whimsical designs inconrporating the Everglades' birds and flowers set on backgrounds that emulate the various colors that form the backdrop for Everglades wildlife. Marjoire tells me she grew up going to the 'Glades and was fascinated by everything she saw. Alarmed now that we stand to lose much of the "River of Grass" that describes the Everglades. They are the largest and one of the most known wetlands in the world. Each year this fragile world is shrinking as the "River of Grass" is drained and polluted. The one place in the world where crocodile and alligator co-habit is disappearing and so is much of the wildlife that once was so abundant. Marjorie's designs remind me to treasure and work to preserve this ecosystem. Inspired by the Everglades this mural shows the "underwater" view and the wall paper the "above the water" activity.
