The Cannes Film Festival Board of Directors chooses a new poster every year. Some are designed by well known artists, others by virtually unknown designers. Piva may well have had some connection to the movie world, because his (her?) name does not exist anywhere else in poster literature except for this one image, which captures the essence of the festival. It depicts the broad curve of the Cannes bay and the Mediterranean itself and a film camera, whose lens is focussed on the Palais du Festival, where the major screenings and ceremonies took place.
