This is a Bertil Vallien art glass sculpture from the Kosta Boda Gallery in Sweden. Bertil Vallien is a renowned Swedish artist specializing in ceramics and art glass. The sculpture depicts a thick, clear glass tile with a central, multi-colored face surrounded by a solid black circular border. The border is then surrounded by molded glass rings within the back of the tile, creating a wonderful sense of motion. The multi-colored face features painterly splashes of red and orange accented by cool blue hues. The face is also positioned slightly towards the front of the tile as the forehead and nose create a subtle mound on the surface of the glass. An "Artists Choice From Kosta Boda" sticker is placed along the front, top edge of the tile while the gallery's sticker is placed along the front, bottom edge. The underside of the tile is etched with "Kosta Boda," "B. Vallien." and what looks to be "7090974." The piece is in excellent condition with some accretion or sticker residue along the bottom edge, as shown in the photographs that include the signature. There are no chips, scuffs, or cracks of any kind. It measures approximately 7.75" from top to bottom edge, 7.75" wide, and 1" thick.
