Emilio Fernandez, born in born Cuba, he is an autodidact artist who resided in New Jersey since 1972. He received his formal education in psychology in Havana, Cuba, where he was awarded a doctorate degree in psychology.

Fernandez has lived in Europe, San Francisco, and New York studying and visiting museums and galleries, he enriching his experience and fascination for Art. He has traveled extensively since age of sixteen, visiting Hawaii, Japan, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Soviet Union, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States. He was intensely influenced by the experiences of several years spent in cultures and civilizations profoundly different from his own Cuban background, during a post World War II period of change and transformation.
