Description

This is an original vintage poster, created by Hans Falk in 1963, archivally mounted on linen for preservation, and measures 50 x 35 inches, in excellent condition. Born in Zurich in 1918, Falk’s artistic career lasted over 50 years. He was an excellent draftsman and his posters were all based on his exceptional drawing ability. He was also a graphic designer, printmaker, book illustrator, and painter. A true renaissance man. Between 1942-and 1964 Hans Falk designed 58 posters, 26 of which are named “best posters” by the Swiss Department of Home affairs. He takes part in dozens of competitions for posters on socially critical, cultural, and political themes. In 1963 Falk wins the competition over 300 entrants to design 7 posters for the 1964 Swiss National Exhibition and Conference on World Peace held in Lausanne. The posters, painted in tachiste style, meet with public disdain, but become highly sought-after collector’s items among connoisseurs. These would be the last posters he would create, and from 1964 – 2002 he concentrated on painting in his studios on the Island of Stomboli and Zurich. We have been collecting and selling original vintage posters for 30 years, and we guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters. Find us at www.prints-posters.com est. 1978
