MARIE COFALKA "MOTHER AND CHILD" OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED AMERICAN, C.1950 20 X 16 INCHES Marie Cofalka 1924-2004 Cofalka was born 1924 Heidelberg Germany,she escaped during WW two. She arrived in the United State and resetteled with her family in Philadelphia, Pa. She was self taught and influenced by Picasso, Moore, Warner and others. The works we are offering all appear for have been painted in the 1940-1950s. Cofalka died in Florida in 2004.  The painting shows a mother clad in red dress holding a white clad blonde girl againsta a turquoise background.
