This American art deco screen door stretcher once graced the front door of a fine South Florida home! It was a tradition in Miami from the 1920’s thru the 1950’s to have decorative screen door stretchers on their front doors. Most homes did not have air conditioning and screen doors were a must to let the breeze flow in. The results became a form of folk art. Constructed of hand wrought iron by local artisans, this screen stretcher has a sailboat floating on stylized waves. It is 63” high x 26” wide.
