Gilbert Rohde (1894-1944) designed these four chairs for his “Rohde Contemporary Furniture” line for the Heywood-Wakefield Company, Gardner Massachusetts in 1930. The chairs, known as “c2794” were constructed of bent beech wood and cloth upholstery with exposed upholstery tacks. First promoted in full page advertisements in the December 1930 trade journals, the chairs remained in Heywood-Wakfield’s line until 1943. Each chair is 16” wide, 21” deep and 31 ½” high.
