Signed and inscribed, "To June Schwartz, sincerely from John Vassos - Feb. 18, 1938" on the half title-page. Original publisher red cloth boards with black, white and gilt decoration to front cover. Text by Ruth Vassos and illustrated by John Vassos. Vassos helped define the modernist art movement via his work as designer for RCA in addition to his illustrated books. Via RCA, John was instrumental in the original designs of the earliest televisions, mid-century microphones, radios, consoles etc... His industrial art is among the widest spread and most important of the 20th century. This book, one of Vassos' most important, is illustrated with 22 art deco inspired plates.
