Chuck Dodson (1908 – 1993) was an architect turned sculptor. He created this cast concrete bas-relief wall mounted sculpture for the Miami DuPont Plaza Hotel which was built in the 1950’s and demolished in 2005. The sculpture shows a happy couple basking in the South Florida sunshine and IS signed on the lower right corner “Dodson”. Known as one of the more colorful artists in the Miami area, he was for a time resident artist at the Grove House in Coconut Grove. He gained national prominence in the 1970’s when Playboy Magazine featured him in an article. The wall sculpture is ready to install! It is 21” square and 2” deep.
