Description

Clinton Adams, "Daffodils," 1948. Lithograph, signed and dated, number 5 of 25 images in print run. (15 3/8in. x 10 3/4in.) Excellent condition. Adams was born in Glendale, California. In 1960, Mr. Adams helped start the renowned Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles with the artist and printmaker June Wayne. The program was intended to revive the art of lithography by training apprentices to become master printers of the medium and by collaborating with well-known artists in the production of marketable works. From 1961 to 1976, he was the Dean of the Department of Art of the University of New Mexico and Director of Tamarind Institute. As a painter, Adams worked in several mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor painting, and egg tempera. He also produced lithographs, and was the co-author of The Tamarind Book of Lithography.
