This is a wonderful vintage chess set created in 1984 by Antonio Castillo Teran for Los Castillo of Taxco. The pieces are handcrafted with one side being gold tone and the other pieces in silver. The figures have different colored lapis stones inset. The players are in wonderful condition. The chessboard is actually a lovely box with a drawer to hold the pieces and the handle pulls a heads from the knights. Lyndon Johnson was a client of Antonio Castillo, a silver designer trained in Las Delicias. The pieces are signed by the artist behind the shields.... A special gift for the serious chess player!.
