Large African carved wood family tree totem/sculpture. This intricately carved sculpture made from a single piece of ebony wood depicts the family tree of a family from the Makonde tribe, tracing its history through several generations.The Makonde tribe are located in northern Mozambique and parts of Tanzania and are known for their exceptional wood carving craftsmanship. This is evident when one looks closely at this sculpture.This incredible item came from Tanzania, and stands close to 6 feet tall and a little more than a foot wide. This piece is signed by Agostino Malaba, a widely renowned Makonde sculptor and craftsman and is his ancestral tree.
