Description

This iconic Art Deco sculpture was created by Jean de Roncourt, the most famous French sculptor of the male figure in the 1920s and 1930s. Entitled Le Bendeur (or, in English, The Bender), it depicts an athletic man dressed in a loincloth bending a large metal rod by hand. This french art deco statue is widely regarded as de Roncourt's best work. The petite bronze metal has beautiful patina, it is impressive not only because of its unusually large size, but also for the quality of the sculpting. Wonderful base with black marble and signed on the marble base base: J De Roncourt.
