MPD-001196
Description

This large American art deco oil painting depicting an underwater tropical scene was done by Earl LaPan (1908-1996). From 1934 to 1939 LaPan executed over 300 murals, paintings and ceiling designs in South Florida. He painted his murals on canvas which was then attached to the newly plastered wall of hotels like the Victor, Flamingo, and Essex. His style featured a romantic and fantastic image of South Florida in a pale pastel palette. LaPan moved back to New York in 1939 to work with Norman Bel Geddes on the World’s Fair. This painting is 36” high and 48” wide and is in its original 46” by 58” 1930’s frame.
