Description

This impressionistic oil on board painting is by Douglas Lockwood (1905 - ). Titled “Moon, Sun, Tide”, it was painted in 1953 and exhibited at the Willard Gallery in New York City where Lockwood had a solo exhibition in 1954. Frank Lloyd Wright visited the exhibition and told The New York Times “A Lockwood Painting should be in every house Frank Lloyd Wright designs”. The painting was subsequently exhibited in 1958 at the Delaware Art Museum. The painting is in its original frame (which has the title in pencil on the wood back). It is 14 ¾” high x 21 ¾” wide, the frame is 7/8” wide and 2” deep.
