Description

This American art deco cabinet was designed by Gilbert Rohde (1894 - 1944) for the Herman Miller Furniture Company, and a similar example was shown at the 1933 Chicago World’s fair in the Design for Living house. The cabinet is constructed of American ash and mahogany veneers with brushed chrome pulls. It has has two drawers on the left, a drop down door in the center and a swing out door on the right. A glass shelf on wood planks secured by three brushed chrome knobs sits atop the right hand section. One drawer contains Rohde’s 1933 World's Fair tag. The piece is from Rohde’s 3319 group and is 50" wide, 15 ½" deep and 23" high.
