Pair of Modernage American Art Deco Speed Chairs

Reference:

MPD-001979
Description

This pair of American art deco chairs was created by Modernage Furniture Company in the late 1930's. It was inspired by Paul Frankl (1886-1958) iconic American art deco "speed" chairs. Designated in a 1932 magazine article as the "speed" chair the name stuck. Inspired by the classic speed boats of the era, the chair seems to be moving while standing still. The chair is upholstered in its original off-white beige fabric; each chair is 40” wide, 39” deep and 28” high.
