Vintage 1934 Carved Walnut Historical AVIATION Plaque

Reference:

MPD-006565
Description

Here is a rare, one of a kind, piece of early American aviation from the estate of Dr. J.D. Brock, a "Who's Who in American Aviation" pilot. Dr. Brock was a WWI veteran pilot who came home to race in many of the early air races throughout the midwest. But his claim to fame came from his amazing accomplishment that took place from Nov. 15, 1929 through Nov. 15, 1939. Brock flew his Waco out of Kansas City every day for those ten years, through all weather conditions, to all 48 states, flying with many of the state governor's with him. This amazing accomplishment awarded him  a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD that still stands today.

This one piece 30" wide, solid walnut, hand carved plaque was awarded to Dr. Brock, from the employees of his Speciality Optical Co., Kansas City, Missouri,  on Nov. 15, 1934, the day he hit 5 consecutive years. It is inscribed on verso, "ALBERT WILKERSON".
