A mixed media/collage titled La Bamba by Mexican-American artist Alfredo Santos, b.1927 in San Diego. Santos gained much fame for painting six large murals while imprisoned at San Quentin Prison, CA 1951-55. He then painted and owned galleries in Mexico. Returning to the US in '67, he ran a popular gallery and bohemian gathering spot in Fleischmanns, N.Y. Moved back to San Diego around '87. Numerous articles about him were printed in LA Times and NY Times. Signed lower right and dated 1965. 16" L x 2" W x 49.5" H
