This Surreal and Magical painting is by Lewis Vandercar who lived in Miami in the 50's and 60's and into the 70's. He had an "open house" in the Morningside area overlooking Biscayne Bay and anyone could come visit him any time. He had a sculpture garden and the fence was decorated with whimsical sculptures. He created the Simian sculptures for the Monkey Jungle and also created an Alice in Wonderland park in the Tampa area. He called himself "Magus Supreme, Pro Tem of the Supreme Order of Magi" and told stories about aliens and warlocks. This painting, presented in its original sixties frame is typical of his work. The canvas is 25" x 30" and it's 29" x 34" overall. Signed on the lower right "Vandercar".
