Gae Aulenti

Gae Aulenti was born in Palazzolo dello Stella in Italy on December 4, 1927 as Gaetana Aulent.  Against her parents’ wishes, who wanted her to be a nice society girl, she tudied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic Univesity, graduating in 1954 as one of two women in a class of 20.   After graduation, she went to work for the design magazine, Casabella, where she was art director from 1955 until 1965.  After getting her doctorate, she taught at the Venice School of Architecture and at the Milan School of Architecture from 1964 to 1967.  During that period, she designed the interio

Rene Gabriel

Born in 1890 in Maisons-Alfort, Ile-de-France, he attended the Ecole Germain Pilon and the ENSAD (Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs) in Paris.   He exhibited at the 1925 Paris Exposition and designed for the French Embassy a child's room and a kitchen.  In 1924 he was the recipient of the Blumenthal Prize for excellence in design.  His production oriented designs of affordable furniture were perfect for the production of the period and in 1927 he unvelied his collection of "serially produced" furniture in oak to great success.

Alessandro Mendini

Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan in 1931 and proceeded to become one of the premier designers in MODERNISM.  He graduated from the Politecnico of Milan in1959 and worked as a designer with Narcello Nizzoli., besides being an Architect and Designer he also worked for Casabella, Modo and Domus Magazines.  In 1979 he was a partner at the Studio Alchimia working with Ettore Sottsass and Michele de Lucchi.  In 1982 he co-founded the Domus Academy, a post graduate design school in Milan.

Fabio Novembre

Fabio Novembre was born in Luccia, Italy in 1966.and moved to Milan in 1984.   In 1992 he received a degree in Architecture and in 1993 moved to New York to study motion picture science at the University of New York.  By 1994 he had received his first design commission in London, the Anna Molinari Blumarine Shop.   He designed for just about everybody!  Check out his website:  http://www.novembre.it/
