Description

This fabulous and quite rare console table by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne is made in the Spring Frestival design.  They have combined bronze and pewter and highlighted several figures in bright patina using red and yellow and sprinkling a high dose of creative genius!   It is signed on the top - check out the images -.  This table is also in excellent condition showing very little signs of wear.   Philip and Kelvin were avid students of world cultures and here they are celebrating the Chinese Spring Festival which is the most important festival in China and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. The festival is a homecoming of sorts for all Chinese who can travel to be with their families.  It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC - 1100 BC), when the Chinese offered sacrifices to the gods and ancestors to ensure a good new year and to say goodbye to the old year.  The table is 28" high x 56" long x 20" wid
