Description

Kem Weber designed this settee and two club chairs for Lloyd Chromium Furniture, the Lloyd Manufacturing Company, Menominee, MI. The settee and chair were at the January 1935 Grand Rapids Furniture Market and appeared in a Lloyd Advertisement in the February 1935 Furniture Record with the headline “Designs by Kem Weber, Quality by Lloyd”. The advertisement goes on to say “by far the most interesting Lloyd Chromium group shown at the winter market was this truly unusual group designed by Kem Weber”. The bodies are of chromed steel, upholstery on Marshall spring-filled seat and back cushions with ebonized wood handles and arm rests. A partial Lloyd decal appears on one of the chair frames. The settee is 65” wide x 33” deep and 27” high. The chairs are 28” wide x 33” deep and 29” high.  The set is pictured in Ric Emmett's book, American Art Deco Furniture.
