Description

This German art deco dinanderie vase was made by the Ikora workshop of WMF (Wurttembergishe metalwarenfabric) ca. 1929. The design was the one of the “Haustein School” of designers and craftsmen in Stuttgart headed by Professor Paul Haustein (1880 - 1944). The vase has a decor of leaping carp emerging from stylized waves. The technique is nickel inlay on copper with green and brick red fire patina. The vase is stamped “Alemania” , “WMF” and has the WMF cypher of a steeple in a circle (twice). It is 7 7/8” high, 7 in diameter (at the rim) and 3 ¾” diameter (at the foot). It is pictured on page 55 in “ WMF Ikora Metall” By Carlo Burchel & Heinz Scheiffele.
