Teresa Eguibar
1940-2000
Eguibar was born in Madrid, Spain in 1940.
She was guided by her father from childhood to artistic expression. She began with painting, enamel and ceramics.
In 1958 she began to train as a sculptor in the workshop of Lorenzo Frechilla, who later became her husband.
In 1961 she joined the group East-West, with other artists from France, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, touring north and central Europe with traveling exhibitions.
Influenced in its beginnings by the figurative and expressionist art, her sculpture went to the realm of abstraction working in materials like the marble, bronze and wood, later she used polished stainless steel and iron.
She was represented in Spain in the Second International Small Sculpture Exhibition in Budapest (1973).
Her work is presently in the Museum of Spanish of Contemporary Art of Madrid and in the Museum of Fine Arts of Budapest.
