Yvonne Sjoestedt

Born 1894

Sjoestedt was born in Paris in 1894, her father was a Swedish journalist and her mother was a well known French author.

Sjoestedt studied at the Paris academy and exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries beginning in 1924 and at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1924.

Sjoestedt painted a mural for the station of Saint-Amand, France in 1929. In 1939 she exhibited at the Galerie Contemporaine; an exhibition of Surrealists like Jean Marembert, Leonor Fini, Jean Miro, Yves Tanguy, and Pierre Ino.

Sjoestedt painted in the style of the Nabis artists with symbolic and idealized scenes with soft Earth tones. She painted a series of very large canvases in the 1920s probably for an Art Deco apartment.
