Cesare Bentivoglio
1868-1952
Cesare Bentivoglio learned very early in Genoa at Giuseppe Sacheri and Antoni Varni and then continued his education independently.
Focus of his work in oil are landscapes, marines and portraits. Early on, the artist decided against the public display of his works at exhibitions and fairs, but had his own lifetime a large and loyal collectors' community in Italy, France and England, so that you will find his works in numerous private collections.
Between approximately 1925 and 1930 Bentivoglio created a series of figurative scenes that are related in flatness and decorative colors with the art of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco. It is sophisticated, exotic and literary motifs, executed in the spirit of the fantastic idyll. This romantic view of a pair of lovers is collectable, as the artists worked in this style only in the second half of the 1920s. J
