"Good Earth" by Olinka Hrdy, 1938.  Lithograph in brown ink, excellent condition, archivally matted and framed.  (11 3/4 H x 16 1/2in W image, 22in H x 26in W framed.  This catalog is a textual companion to the exhibition, Oklahoma Moderne: The Art and Design of Olinka Hrdy, and a first effort in reassessing the career of Olinka Hrdy. During a return trip to Oklahoma in the 1960s, Hrdy donated many of her works to the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. The museum now holds the majority of her works.

The known facts about Hrdy include her days growing up in Prague, Oklahoma, an area settled by Czechs. Her second cousin was Edward Benes, the second president of Czechoslovakia She arrived at the university with only fifty dollars for the entire year. Befriended by art faculty, she was given opportunities to paint her way through school with mural projects. After spending most of her career in New York and California, she returned to Oklahoma in the 1960s. During the 1990s, there was a renewed interest in Hrdy's art and her work was included in the exhibition and catalogue Independent Spirits: Women Painters of the American West 1890-1945, as well as the publications California Art: 450 Years of Painting and Tulsa Art Deco.
