PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE - AMERICAN ARTISTS SPECIALIZING IN SUPERBLY CRAFTED FURNITURE AND SCULPTURE
Philip (American, 1907 - 1987) and Kelvin (American, b 1937)  LaVerne were a father and son team that created extremely unique pieces, both furntiure and fine arts their furniture with a sculptural feeling that makes each one quite unique.  Although they created one of a kind sorks such as their nude table, many of their pieces were limited editions.  They shared an interest in history and that interest influenced their designs.  Their work is highly sought after.   The furntiure has a sculptural quality and is made from bronze combining different patinas to highlight the creations in color.  They combined traditional style pieces but enhanced them with their work adding nudes, landscapes, Chinese court scenes etc.  Furniture pieces included tables, consoles and cabinets combining bronze and pewter and glass.
