MAURICE GUIRAUD-RIVIERE modernism

 

Art Deco sculptor, author of numerous statuettes (bronze or chryselephantine type) mainly on women's issues, sports, aviation and automotive. Most of his works were published by the house Etling which, founded in 1909, was very active in the edition of Art Deco bronzes and represented many sculptors of this artistic movement which Demetre Chiparus. Maurice Guiraud-Riviere is also known for its automotive mascots, area in which he has invested heavily. It is part of the sculptors who created some of the best known mascots during the golden age of this production (1919-1930). Its mascots, always beautifully crafted, are now highly sought after by collectionneurs. He was also author of models for the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres between 1911 and 19233. Now is less known for his graphic work: cartoons Paint a trip to Morocco (1933) he brought the inspiration orientalist watercolors. posters: on his return from Morocco he produced posters for Morocco Railways and Air France.
